The demand for high-quality health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) to support drug development, health technology assessment / access decisions, product differentiation, and clinical decision-making continues to increase. The purpose of the Lilly Value, Evidence, and Outcomes (VEO) team is to accelerate equitable patient access and transform healthcare delivery through the execution and communication of bold, high-impact science. The Associate Director of End-to-End (E2E) Process Effectiveness leads efforts to design, simplify, and streamline VEO business processes. This individual applies their knowledge of the business and process management expertise to ensure the processes they oversee are compliant, fit-for-purpose, and efficient. To achieve this, they work closely with cross-functional leaders, SMEs, Quality, and Learning and Development to craft and continuously improve ways of working that accelerate innovation, deliver results, and maintain trust.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Business Process Architecture and Ownership:

Help establish and maintain an overall business process architecture aligned with organizational goals.

Ensure adherence to process governance, standards, and best practices.

Collaborate with others to ensure alignment and seamless process integration.

Maintain a deep understanding of assigned processes, including requirements, inputs, outputs, and dependencies (e.g., connected processes, systems, and information flow).

2. Process Optimization, Automation, and Continuous Improvement:

Analyze current and future-state processes for optimization opportunities.

Identify automation opportunities and work with Tech@Lilly to assess and implement solutions.

Lead efforts to continuously improve processes (reduce errors, simplify, automate, and deliver greater value).

3. Compliance, Monitoring, and Risk Management:

Partner with Quality to craft processes and procedures that comply with applicable internal and external requirements and to ensure process (and related) documentation is clear and concise.

Work proactively with Quality to assess risk, design for compliance, and navigate innovations.

Establish process controls to prevent and/or detect problems early.

4. Connect and Coach Process SMEs and Others:

Recruit and equip process SMEs. Provide coaching on process management and continuous improvement.

Facilitate coordination/integration of process improvement efforts.

Provide mentorship and support to employees who carry out processes. Answer complex questions.

5. Change Leadership and Project Management:

Lead cross-functional project teams in E2E process mapping and documentation.

Ensure process changes are supported by a fit-for-purpose change strategy.

Communicate changes effectively.

Partner with Learning and Development for skill development.

Devise and deploy additional reinforcements to support successful implementation.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a science- or health-related field.

A minimum of 8 years' experience in process improvement and/or process excellence experience.

Additional Preferences:

Technical Expertise

Knowledge of health outcomes research and/or drug development and commercialization.

Experience with quality systems and working in a highly regulated environment.

Experience with Business Architecture, Business Process Management, Process Mining and/or Process Automation

Demonstrated success in leading complex projects, such as PMP Certification, Six Sigma, or relevant experience.

Ability to navigate complexity, synthesize information from multiple sources, simplify, and make risk-based decisions.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to recognize problems, use data to diagnose root causes, and take preventative action to avoid recurrence.

Excellent computer skills.

Leadership

Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly and succinctly.

Demonstrated ability to drive and lead cross-functional change without direct authority.

Ability to take and defend positions on difficult business issues.

Excellent self-management and organizational skills; able to manage workload, set priorities and adjust as needed.

Excellent interpersonal and teambuilding skills; able to develop effective teamwork between team members with diverse backgrounds and interpersonal styles.

Flexibility to adjust quickly and effectively to frequent changes and altered priorities.

Other Information

Domestic and International Travel may be necessary, limited.

Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $122,250 to $180,000 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
